Tesla CEO Elon Musk is now the richest man in the world

His last reported Bitcoin holdings were 0.25 BTC.

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has surpassed the net worth of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

“Elon Musk has become the richest person in the world, as his net worth exceeded USD 185 billion (GBP 136 billion),” the BBC reported on Thursday.

The futuristic businessman earned amazing wealth last year. “Musk started 2020 with a value of about $27 billion, and he was barely among the 50 richest people,” CNBC said Thursday, adding:

“The skyrocketing price of Tesla shares, which has increased nine-fold in the last year, along with its generous salary package, has added more than $150 billion to its net worth.”

After the COVID-19 collapse in March, Tesla found that its shares were priced close to $70, according to TradingView.com. By 2021, TSLA’s shares exceeded $800 each, which also takes into account an August 2020 stock split.

Musk is also no stranger to the crypto industry, although he has not emerged as a leading advocate of the asset class. “Bitcoin Machine is almost as much my*rda as trust money,” Tesla’s CEO said in a December 2020 Twitter posting.

Musk owns only 0.25 Bitcoin (BTC), according to his most recent commentary on his holdings, noted in May 2020. He has also commented on Dogecoin (DOGE) at various times in the past, probably in a comical manner.

Michael Saylor, the Bitcoin acclimator at MicroStrategy, recently offered to help the technology visionary get some BTC for Tesla.
